Laura and Jim have spent a long friendship discussing their different world views and the human condition – the good, bad and everything in-between. The result of those discussions is this book.
In it, we address the dangerous gap in innovation between the magnificent things that we have created and the lagging ways in which we understand, communicate and govern.
We call this The Human Race, and as we say in the book’s conclusion:
“The race was never against one another. It was always a race between what we have built and what we can become.”
The Five Horsemen
We believe that we are facing five converging crises. Each, on their own, represents a major test for society. Together, they create an existential threat to us and to the generations to come.
They share a common logic: extract value now, externalise the cost and leave the consequences for later.
